I'm Toby, aka Crazy Ivan the Space Biker aka cmpgk1024, and I like programming in C++ and video games(especially VVVVVV :viridian:)! I've just finished SSSSSS, a save switching program for VVVVVV(so you can have multiple save profiles) and you can download it at http://distractionware.com/forum/index.php?topic=1066.0.

I noticed that 1/3 of the people that posted their intro here are programmers, program as a hobby or want to program in the future. I consider this as a coincidence. Am I right?

IMO, anyone who makes vvvvvv levels can be called a programmer.

blue626

With "programmer" I mean person that makes games or other apps. Some are those people, some do that, but as a hobby, some want to do that in the future. All those people together make about one third of the people that posted here. We're not making games, we're making VVVVVV levels. We can't make games by just learning about VVVVVV scripting, can we? Considering that I'm part of the other 2/3, I don't feel that I can call myself a programmer. So, isn't this fact a coincidence?

No you can't. VVVVVV scripting is first at all a custom made scripting language, only contains bare bones functionality of a scripting language (not even that), and cannot really be fit in something else than VVVVVV. Even simple things like variables (the only variables existing in VVVVVVscript are flags, that can be 0 or 1), conditionals (VVVVVVscript has ifsomething(...,callscript)), isn't implemented "properly".

It *is* a scripting language, but an extremely simple one. Even BASIC is more powerful, and it was *made* to be easy to learn :P

Did you read my post well? That's what I was trying to say. Or, were you just saying that you concord with me and that my post was right?
Isn't it true that the fact below is a coincidence?
