This weekend is Pirate Kart V, a very special creative endeavour where people from all over the world attempt to make as many games as possible in 48 hours. (We’re already up to 363!)

I started this little game this morning, intending it as a warm up – but it got a little bit out of hand…

  1. Very nice! But gosh if this isn’t difficult. Well, I guess it’s not the hardest game ever, but yeah, this is probably going to eat up a lot of my time.

  2. Pretty addicting. My current best is 45:01. I can’t seem to get any higher than that no matter how hard I try 🙁

  3. Loving it, but those spirals feel a bit off. They are really difficult to get through, yet don’t appear often enough to get much practice on them.

But damn if you’re not just crazy for managing a game like this in such a short time frame.

  4. The controls keep sticking at the worst possible moments, though I don’t think I could beat level 2 even if my computer were working properly…

Joe’s right though, the sick beats are reason enough to play by themselves.

  5. Damn it, I only had a quick look at my blogs before I went to put some coffee (and some clothes) on. Now I’ve been sat here for the last half an hour with my eyeballs going crusty…

Still, 73:25 – Better than I ever did on the Super Gravitron 😀

  6. Awesome piece! currently sitting at 44:57 (foreverasquare.jpg)
It would be easier/better(?) with mouse control, imo.

  7. So frelling hard!

I love the concept, graphics, and music. That’s perfect. Well done! Can we hope for an exe version?

  8. This game has consumed the last few hours of my life getting to stage 6. Absolutely Epic.
Drew a crowd in the office when I screamed in agony after getting through 5 near consecutive spirals and then hit a wall at 59:46.

I don’t know why but I LOVE stuff like this. Very smooth and very nice! Can’t wait to see more shinies 😀

  9. Not the best or most complex jam game I’ve ever played, but by FAR the most polished! Almost everything feels right (the timing on the long spirals being too precise is the only thing that feels wrong), the colors and graphics are hypnotizing, it has a consistent and well executed graphical theme, and the music and sound effects are great. I think I was playing as much to hear further in the song than anything. Absolutely love it, and I’m probably going to buy chipzel’s album now.

  10. This is an amazing game, going to put it up their with every extend extra, thank you for making one of my favorite flash games

  11. Great execution, I like how most of the challenge is just trying not to panic!
The clock is really a stress factor here, and after I managed level 6 and stopped worrying about the time, everything seemed much easier 🙂

  12. Super catchy game! Easy to play quickly, so my friends and I were competing between classes. Finally got over 80s, and was slightly disappointed that the music stopped. =3 Great job though!

  13. Guess we’re never going to see Isothingy, then… 😛

Just messing around, I loved the game! Really bloody hard, though, I only got to triangle (so far).

  14. Told a bunch of friends at school about it and now everyone is playing and work ethic has been greatly diminished.

  15. Mouse controls wouldn’t work here!

    1) Your movement is relative to the stage, which is rotating. There’s no way to make that work with the mouse, you’d have to compensate for the stage-rotation yourself!
    2) The spirals are timed so you have to just hold down the arrow key to get through them. They’re designed with the fixed speed of movement in mind! You’d have to try to manually recreate that with the mouse.

All in all, this game is definitely NOT appropriate for mouse controls.

  16. I thought that the game clock was going too slow on my computer, therefore giving me smaller scores than the ones I was achieving (mostly because I was stuck on triangle and then, in another PC, I got pentagon at first try).

So I started playing with my cellphone on the left hand, ready to stop a chronometer right when I die and compare the results. And then I saw the game’s clock was just fine. And then I got to hexagon. Silly me.

  17. Terry, this game is amazing! Is there some way we can just throw money at you for making awesome things? You should put a button for that on this site!

Anyway, I wanted to mention a little bug that I found: I got EXACTLY 45:00 seconds on my first run, and I still have “Level 4: Square” on the title screen and the message “Next Level at 45 Seconds”. I’m not sure if this happens in any other cases, but I thought I’d point it out! Also, just for clarity, this happened while playing the download version of Hexagon from this website:

Thanks again Terry, for this and all the other great games you’ve made!

  18. Hell, this is an awesome game, completely addictive. I may have spent ten hours playing in less than a week. But the result is here : My best score is 426,47
