Behold the Super Gravitron! It’s a mini-game found in the game somewhere after the ending, which I added over the last few very productive days.

I’m really really happy with how it’s ended up – in fact, I think this alone completely justifies taking some extra time to finish up the game. It’s something I’ve had in mind to make since day one, and it almost didn’t make it in – if I had rushed this to completion last week, it absolutely would have been cut. (Interestingly, this brings the project back full circle to the original KOTM prototype that brought it to life!)

In other news, Souleye has completed the new track for the game, titled “Potential For Anything”. You’ll have to wait until the game’s ready to hear it, but there’s a 16 second preview of it on his site! (under downloads)

Since giving myself a little more time for this project, I’ve been having a lot of ideas about new things I can add, which is great, but I think I have to draw the line somewhere. Otherwise this will just drag on and on forever and I’ll never finish it. I’ll think about it over the next few days.

Merry Christmas!

  1. that’s awesome! hopefully the 4channers will see these new updates and at least convert a few over to the “paying” side.

I’ll also be looking forward to Souleye putting the album out. That 16 sec preview is too short!

  2. I hope souleye considers increasing the bitrate and/or doesnt use hi/lo pass filters on the compressor or has wav available

  3. Aww, Souleye took down the full length main theme and uptempo main theme – I downloaded them back when Terry said something to the effect of “This music is awesome I have been listening to it on loop since I got it here look at this trailer” …

    Merry Christmas, Terry πŸ™‚

  4. Now what’s a better present than a Paypal receipt? Not only did this /v/ visitor buy the game for himself, but for his brother!

Really looking forward to the full version. Merry Christmas Terry.

  5. endobaur:

The bitrate is as high as it can be in my mp3s. If you have been playing the beta then there may have been lower bitrates used to conserve filesize.

    Merry Xmas!

  6. Oh Oh! I’ve got an idea for an extra!

    How about fun!

I played the Beta, the controls were piss poor and entirely imprecise. Tons of the rooms pulled complete bullshit too.

Having to enter a room at the exact right angle to even make it through is not fun especially when the controls are like driving a car over an ice-rink.

NEVER should it be possible to slide off a platform when you demand we land on the tiniest block.

Don’t get me wrong, I love difficult games, but theres a difference between difficult and poorly designed.

  7. anon: another 4channer, i expect? the solitary view of one anonymous internet idiot can’t really be taken as meaning anything when the vast majority of (both paid and pirated) players of the beta loved it. all the reviews of the beta thus far have been extremely positive, especially commenting on the brilliance of the design. cut the sarcasm, please. terry has poured his heart into this game, and it’s not for somebody who doesn’t bother to even leave their internet handle that he’s spent countless hours toiling away at his computer. and: even though i’m sure vvvvvv is great fun (i only got a preorder, not beta access), have you ever considered that perhaps games can invoke more emotions than the primal rush commonly known as “fun”? of course, every form of media began as just being “fun” but they all evolved past that, and i believe terry is an important part of the independent revolution that’s taking games to the next level.

for my part, i can’t wait for vvvvvv’s release. don’t let the slimey underbelly of the internet upset you, be proud of what you’ve achieved in such a short time (as it appears you’re doing). don’t look back was pure brilliance, from the fantastic design, balanced to achieve the perfect level of difficulty without frustration, to the wonderful story, presented as a very original modern take on the orpheus myth. happy holidays!

  8. TouchΓ©! But I like the asian smiley “^^” though, which went well with VVVVVV ^^, but with ^^^^^^ it’s kinda… ^^^^^^^^? ^^! Also let’s not forget that the url will be pretty hard to get registered. Theletter^sixtim.es looks illegal! πŸ˜›

  9. Song sounds fucking awesome. Now I’m even more pumped for this since a good soundtrack is one of the major selling points of a game to me.

How long have you been tracking for SoulEye, and what made you pick Madtracker?

  10. I’m not exactly sure, but it must have been since somewhere around 1990. I got my first tracker on a floppy that came with a British paper magazine. The transition from that early tracker to Madtracker was easy because of it similarities and new features.
